The Reason Why Your Baby Needs To Wear A Swimming Diaper In The Pool
If I ask you about water safety the first thing that most certainly will pop into your brain is drowning. Actually it is for sure one of the highest risks when swimming but there is more. Germs can dirty pool water and can cause RWI - recreational water illnesses.
These illnesses are spread by drinking pool water that has been contaminated. Contamination is spread when someone's fecal matter gets in the water.
You know that the germs provoking these RWIs get killed by the chlorine in the pool water but that doesn't happen instantly after an accident. Some germs like Crypto can live longer than a day in chlorinated water.
As infants and some toddlers are not fully potty-trained most pools require that they wear a swim diaper approved by the CDC.
Swim diapers are not like standard diapers as they do not suck in liquids. What they are presumed to do is to contain any solid waste in. Although it is true that swim nappies do not guarantee non-leakage on 100% if used with some precautions they will block the germ spread.
You can pick from disposable and washable swimming diapers to buy. Both have their benefits and downsides but I personally advise using the reusables.
The reason I like better reusable swim diapers is they are much cheaper in the long term though the initial expense may seem immense. In fact your child will need only two or three cloth swim diapers so you can change them if there has been a poo accident.
You can machine wash them with other clothes and towels. I wouldn't encourage that you put your baby in a normal cloth diaper cover. More or less it will do the same work but the chlorine in the water will damage the fabric.
If you detest the thought of washing a soiled diaper than you should go for the disposable option. Disposable swim nappies come in packs as regular and you throw them away after each use. I wouldn't suggest using a sposie more than once though it can bear a couple of laundry cycles.
The negative aspect of using disposable swim diapers is they will need more space in your bag and they are actually pricey.
When you go choosing swim diapers you should keep some critical checkpoints in your mind.
A great swim diaper should be comfy, easy to put on and pull off when dirty and should be made of a soft fabric that won't give your infant a rash. My tip is to choose an adjustable swimming diaper, there are options with Velcro, snaps and strings so it fits snugly the baby's body.
Both reusable and disposable swim diapers have a great range of colors and models to choose from. Particularly if you have a baby girl you may find it tough to choose only one or two as they are so cute.
